From designing clothes for her Barbie dolls as a kid with the help of her mom, to taking up Designing as her professional career, she has come a long way. Let us get to know her journey in this edition of Designerspeak

Tell us about you. What do you do? What have you studied?

I did my fashion design graduation from NIFT Mumbai. I am currently working as a designer in Shoppers Stop.

What sparked your interest in fashion designing?

As a child, I had a special place for Barbie dolls in my heart. I used to design clothes for her, with the help of my mother, and that used to make me so happy. I belong to a small town, and there you don't have all the information about so many things. People don't know what career to pursue , what are their likes and dislikes. Even though I used to think that making clothes was just a hobby. Later on, when all my friends were trying to get into engineering and other courses , I decided to make my hobby as my profession, to do something which I like .

How did you come to be part of the hashboosh community?

I read about hashboosh a few years ago, and I really liked the concept. the first time i just tried out of fun,but later on i started enjoying it.

What are your emotions when you see your sketch come to reality?

It's like your baby coming to the real world.

What's your design aesthetic?

The design should be minimal, chic, smart, easy to wear and trendy.

What are your sources of inspiration?

Inspiration can come from anything, when you see a sculpture, or a movie, magazines, any ads or someone walking on the street. It's not restricted.

How do you start to translate your inspiration into design?

I start with the trends, then I do brand research, and according to the brand which i handle i design for that.

How do you keep yourself up to date with current and future trends?

By visiting brands, watching runways, and other trend forecasting sites.

Do you design with any one in mind? A muse?

Yes, Of course. It depends on what project you are working on, who is your client, what are the likes and dislikes of the individual. In retail every brand has a client profile. I design keeping that person in mind.

Are there any types of styles that you avoid wearing? Tell us more about your style

I personally don't avoid any type of styles. I like wearing clothes which are a little flared for that added comfort.

What is the biggest lesson that you have learned since you started designing?

In college we used to live in a fairytale, we used to make just art not that which can be accepted on a wider range. After coming into the industry I have learned that it's not just about what you like, there are many factors which need to be taken into consideration while designing.

What is your dream project?

I want to start my own label.

Other than designing, what are you most passionate about?

I have liked to sing very much since childhood.

What do you love most about

Hashboosh is a very good platform for the emerging designers, as this gives them confidence to show their creativity on such a good platform. The concept of Hashboosh is not just selling the product, it is also engaging the designers and helping them to come out and showcase their talent.
